Tappan history dates back to 1881 in Bellaire, Ohio, when WJ Tappan began selling cast-iron stoves, going door-to-door, and founded Valley Foundry Company. In 1889, the company changed its name once again, this time to Eclipse. During the World War I, the company manufactured cooking equipment for soldiers.
In 1920 porcelain gas stove model was released, which was available in different color variations.After 35 years, Tappan releases the first model of the microwave oven for household use. In 1960, gas stove model with electric ignition was developed. In 1979, the brand became a part of the Swedish Electrolux company.
